Today in the Fishroom~9/30/07 Freddie, Manny and the rest

Some photos of wild P. Fredrichsthali Sp. "Cenote Escondido". This is the Freddie that has been observed "death feigning" to capture prey. Really good looking fish from the Yucutan Peninsula in Mexico. I have 15 of them...all between two and three inches.

Here's some links to more information on this fish:

    Cichlid Room Companion

    Complete paper from Michael Tobler

Even at this size they can pop an attitude. Two juvenile males.

    5" F0 H. Labridens Green "Rio Salto"

    Close up of the Zonatum

    Male F0 Honduran Managuense

Niceness! Those Freddies will surely turn out nice when they grow a bit larger. And nice pictures, as always.

Yes. They have a nice strip of blue along their dorsal fin. I think the color is more apparent since I positioned my flash above the tank pointing down.

I don't remember. But I am always looking for like minded cichlid enthusiasts to share the hobby. For what it's worth...I'm one half Swede. Can I stay?

These fish are wild...collected two years ago in Honduras.
I have several...but two of these fish in a divided 125 gallon tank. I thought they were both the same sex. Apparently I have a pair and they are starting to breed. I know which is which...do you? All kidding aside I'm still shaking my head.

And if you saw this picture first...would you have said Managuense? Amazing amount of blue accentuated byt the fact that the flash is right above the fish.

I've been using these fish as dithers for my cichlids.

I just pulled my Giant Gourami's out of the pond. There are a total of five regular and one albino. When I got them they were cute little guys at 1":

                      Here they are at 4""

I have four of them in a 300 gallon tank. The largest is 20"...the smallest 16". They are very shy right now since they've been in the pond for two years. Not used to people staring back in at them. More to come when they settle down. You can see a "piece" of all four in this photo.

...and some more. Here's the largest of the five.

The back end of a bunch of G's

The albino Giant G. at 14"

A long shot...you can see how I am lighting the photo for the shots.
